The hip hop group, 69 Boyz --with roots in Jacksonville, though currently based in Orlando Florida-- will be joining the current lineup which includes award-winning, legendary artist Cameo, and other big-name entertainers such as H-Town, Shai, Klymaxx, Michel'le and Ruff Endz. The show will be hosted by BET and DEF JAM’S Celebrity Comedian Tyler Craig. Before the Chicken Noodle Soup, the Schmoney dance, the Harlem Shake, or the Milly Rock were ever thought about, there were certain dances that you had to have down pact in order for you to get your cool points on the dance floor in the 90s. It was in 1994 that 69 Boyz declared that the Butterfly dance was now old and the new dance was the “Tootsee Roll”. There w

First Lady of the West Coast Rap -- Michel'le

Image
Michel’le Toussant is an American R&B recording artist who will forever hold a place in music history as one of the most important female vocalists during the " golden-age" of West Coast Hip-Hop. A native of Compton, it was clear that Michel’le had a unique vision in regards to merging street-influenced urban culture with sultry vocals and powerful lyrics. To begin with, her voice was unquestionably one of the most unique instruments ever heard in music; a high-pitched speaking voice vs. a beautifully aggressive singing vocal. This caught the attention of Andre “Dr. Dre” Young, who at the time needed a female vocalist on what would become one of World Class Wreckin' Cru’s biggest hits, “Turn Off the Lights”. After the single’s success, Michel’le continued her pursuit of a career in music by signing with Ruthless Records at 19. While at Ruthless, her labelmates included pioneers such as Eric “Eazy E” Wright, NWA and the D.O.C. Ruthless Records made hist

R&B Diva Michel'le promises to draw record crowds in Jacksonville

Image
Michel'le Denise Toussant,   known mononymously as  Michel'le , is an American  R&B  singer and songwriter. She is best known for her songs from the late–1980s to early–1990s. Her most notable songs were two  Billboard  R&B chart toppers "No More Lies" (a top 10 hit on the Hot 100) and "Something In My Heart". Her signature childlike speaking voice is a startling contrast to her strong and soulful singing vocals. Between 2013 and 2015, Michel'le was one of six members on the  TV One  reality show  R&B Divas: Los Angeles . Michel'le was originally a featured female vocalist on  World Class Wreckin' Cru 's 1987 single "Turn Off the Lights". She was called at the last minute to record vocals for Mona Lisa, who could not make it to the studio. Michel'le was signed to  Eazy-E 's  Ruthless Records . In 1989, she released her self-titled debut album, produced entirely by then-boyfriend  Dr. Dre . The album contained

SHAI, THROWBACK TO THE 90'S

Image
SHAI, was formed at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Three of its four members, Marc Gay, founding member Carl Martin, and Darnell Van Rensalier, belonged to the same fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, and along with good friend Garfield Bright, decided to take a chance at turning their hobby of singing at talent shows into a career. While still in DC, Carl met a DJ from radio station WPGC at a softball game, and passed a demo tape of "If I Ever Fall in Love" to him. That same week, the DJ played it on the air. Other stations soon followed suit, and in short order the record labels came calling. After signing with Gasoline Alley, Shai began quickly putting together their debut album, which was recorded in three weeks. "If I Ever Fall in Love" was released as the first single, and reached #2 in the U.S. The next two releases from the double-platinum album, "Comforter" and "Baby I'm Yours," each were in the top 10. The group's next alb

Legends are Timeless – H-Town is Legendary.

Image
In 1992 the evolution of Rhythm and Blues was altered significantly for the world of music connoisseurs’ and millions of fans. H-Town, The Legendary Icons of R&B proudly debuted a sound synonymous with universal acclaim, skillfully rocketed several hit singles to chart topping success,  humbly acquired the longevity of mass audience appeal and righteously maintained a powerful presence on the spectra of performance entertainment and have been firmly grounded in the spotlight for nearly  two decades. With talent and precise orchestration, H-Town has mastered the minds of music’s adoring fans over and over again with their signature sound. Originally H-Town consisted of twin brothers Keven “Dino” Conner and Solomon “Shazam” Conner, along with their long time friend Darryl “G.I.” Jackson. In 2003 a tragic car accident took the life of Dino. This devasting blow to the group heartfelt and grieved by many did not discourage the artists or the fans. To date, Shazam and G.I. are
